first post in photography

I am finally getting around to creating a site for my passion in photography.
Here's a brief history of my interest in photography:
As a child I thought my dad's old Europe pictures from his service in the Army Corps of Engineers were a pretty cool way to re-live those memories.
I had a cheap Vivatar film camera in my teens.
I worked in a call center taking calls for Cameraworld.com and started learning a little more about photography.
I picked up a Canon Powershot A75 and took some pretty good pictures that many people complimented on.
After that camera died, after about 8 years, I replaced it with a Canon Elph 300hs to use while traveling with my family and scout group.
Only recently I decided to seriously look at getting into photography and buy a DSLR. My wife was a big push, she's told me over and over through the years that I should get into photography.
I have setup this website as a place where I can post my pictures as a sort of portfolio to the world.
